‘I anticipate that he will be of tremendous use to us in the future’- Christophe Galtier names the most impactful player for PSG

Christophe Galtier, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), has said that midfielder Danilo Pereira is anticipated to assist the squad in defence during the current 2022–23 season.

Since his loan move to the Parisians from Porto in the summer of 2020, Pereira has established himself as an essential element of the Parisians’ roster at the Parc des Princes. This is Pereira’s third year with the club. In 83 games in all competitions, he has played, he has racked up seven goals and one assist.

On August 31, when PSG defeated Toulouse 3-0 away from home, the Portuguese defender began as one of the three central defenders in Galtier’s customary 3-4-2-1 formation. The other two central defenders were Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos.

What did Christophe Galtier say?

Galtier discussed Pereira’s previous performance at a press conference that took place before to the match. According to him (as quoted by RMC Sport):

“His performance in central defense pleasantly surprised me, and I anticipate that he will be of tremendous use to us in the future.”

When Galtier was asked whether or not he was considering converting to a four-man defense owing to a shortage of centre-backs, he responded as follows:

“The ability to adjust to changing circumstances is an essential quality in a coach. Although it is conceivable, it is recommended that you begin with a formation that you have been working on for at least two months before doing so. Due to the absence of a player in some areas, we may need to make some adjustments. But as we speak, I do not see the need to alter our structure in any way.”

On the last day of the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain was not successful in luring Milan Skriniar away from Inter Milan. Skriniar was PSG’s top defensive transfer target. According to GOAL, even though the Ligue 1 champions had their offer of about €60 million for the Slovak centre-back turned down, the club is expected to revive their interest in the player during the winter transfer window.

PSG, who are currently in first place in the Ligue 1 rankings with 13 points after five games, will play their next match on Saturday against Nantes (September 3).
