‘I Hope He Shines, Except For When He Plays Against Us’-Bruno Fernandes Heaps Praise On The 22-Year-Old Arsenal Star
The offensive midfielder for Manchester United, Bruno Fernandes, has shown his admiration for Fabio Vieira, who was recently signed by Arsenal.
The new player for Arsenal joined the club earlier this summer in a move that was for £35 million, and even though he is somewhat of an unknown figure to fans of the Premier League, Fernandes has talked in glowing terms about the new player.
“I welcome all Portuguese players who move overseas, and I hope that he may shine to the utmost, except for when he plays against me,” Fernandes made the statement to journalists in Portugal.
What did Bruno Fernandes say about the new Arsenal Transfer from Portugal?
Vieira comes to the club from FC Porto. He produced an outstanding return of 23 goal involvements across all competitions during the previous season, scoring seven goals and assisting 16 others.
“Fábio has a significant amount of skill, and he has been displaying it, whether in FC Porto or the Under-21s. He has had strong stats and good performances,” Fernandes remarked.
“I hope that he is as successful as all of the Portuguese who are over there. We need to become better at appreciating what belongs to us, and with his desire to come out on top, I really hope that Fábio can perform to the best of his abilities,” he added.
After completing the transfer for American goalkeeper Matt Turner, Arsenal made Vieira its second official acquisition of the summer. Earlier in the summer, the club had made a bid for Brazilian teenage winger Marquinhos.
The transfer of Gabriel Jesus, a centre striker who will cost Arsenal £45 million, is anticipated to be finalized on Friday, and the Brazilian has already been seen wearing the number nine jersey of the club.
It is not yet clear what role Vieira will be required to play in the Arsenal squad. Nevertheless, his danger in front of the goal will provide Arsenal with the sort of depth that they lacked during the previous season when they relied on many of the starting 11 players in the side.
As Fernandes did, Jose Fonte, a former Liverpool defender, has lately showered praise on Vieira, who, like Fernandes, advised Arsenal supporters to be “extremely enthusiastic” about their new acquisition. Vieira told the fans to be “very happy” about their new signing.
Fonte referred to him as a “really exciting young player” who has a great deal of flair on the ball as well as intelligence.
“Fans of Arsenal have every reason to be thrilled about the signing of this player because he represents the kind of talent that appeals to them. I’m very excited to see him play in the Premier League,” he said.
