“He will cost €111.8M”, Manchester United wants the £200,000-a-week player to replace Cristiano Ronaldo
If Harry Kane chooses against signing an extension with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United may make a play to acquire his services
ESPN reports that Manchester United is still interested in signing Harry Kane. If the current England captain chooses not to renew his contract with Tottenham Hotspur, they might make signing him a top priority. The striker, who has scored 17 goals for his club, has a difficult decision when his contract with the Premier League ends in 2024.
There are two schools of thought that may emerge from Harry Kane’s contemplation on his career. One is to enjoy all the goals he has scored that have moved him closer than ever to becoming Tottenham’s all-time great in front of the net. Second, there is the obvious dearth of prizes from his time spent in north London.
Kane had the possibility to shift clubs in 2021, but Manchester City could not convince Tottenham to trade him. The club’s chairman displayed his ‘hardman’ abilities by keeping the striker after he supposedly went on strike at the beginning of the previous season.
Since acquiring Erling Haaland during the summer, Manchester City can no longer compete for the England captain. This season, the Norwegian has scored more goals than anybody else in the Premier League. Despite this, Kane still has a significant opportunity to depart the Spurs after the current season.
At 29, his next transfer might be his last major opportunity to make a lasting impression abroad and compete for a trophy. The Red Devils have become a potential destination for Kane. Man United are reportedly considering signing the Premier League standout who has scored 17 goals this season.
Manchester United are in the current market to recruit a new striker after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo before the World Cup. The withdrawal of the Portuguese has created a massive void in their offensive formation, which Erik ten Hag is frantically trying to fill.
It has been claimed that Dutch international Wout Weghorst is interested in coming to the club on loan. Nonetheless, if the transfer does occur, it seems to be a short-term arrangement only. The summer is when Manchester United will focus on the long term. Because of this, Kane becomes an objective for the club, although it will be challenging to get the services of the English international.
With his Spurs contract set to expire in 2024, Kane will be in a favourable position to leave the club this summer. Despite the striker allegedly exploring all of his options, Spurs will do everything it takes to get a contract extension.
Spurs will likely be prepared to accept a substantial offer if he chooses against signing an extension. Though Levy has always been reluctant to trade the striker to a competitor, Kane will be in a more advantageous position to decide where he goes next.
Kane may find that playing for Manchester United is a fantastic choice. He has to score 260 goals in the Premier League to surpass Alan Shearer’s record. The striker needs around 62 more goals to set the record, and with a team like the Red Devils, he has a good chance of doing it.
