Twitter Reacts To Arsenal’s Resilient Performance Against Liverpool At Anfield

Arsenal visited Anfield for the first leg of the Carabao Cup Semi-final. Arsenal was hit by a number of absentees before the game, such as Martin Odegaard, Takheiro Tomiyasu & Emile Smith-Rowe. Although Granit Xhaka returned for Arsenal in midfield but didn’t really turn out to be positive for Arsenal. The game started off in the worst possible manner for Arsenal as Cedric picked up an injury in the first minute of the game. Mikel Arteta was forced to sub off Cedric Soares early in the game for Calum Chambers. Further in the game Granit Xhaka picked up another red card. Jamie Carragher branded the challenge as absolutely disgusting.

The red card forced Mikel Arteta to make another change, as Rob Holding replaced Eddie Nketiah. Introudction of Rob Holding meant Arsenal moved to a 5 at the back formation. Bukayo Saka & Gabriel Martinelli playing as midfielders with Lacazette up top. Mikel’s side showed resilient performance throughout. Hence Arsenal became the first side to get a clean sheet at Anfield this season.

Bukayo Saka also registered the only shot on target of the game. Arsenal fans would be hoping that it is not an injury which caused Mikel to sub Bukayo Saka off.
