Real Madrid Has Taken A Decision Regarding Antonio Rudiger – What’s Next?

Real Madrid, a La Liga heavyweight, is allegedly ramping up their attempts to recruit Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger

According to a rumour by Spanish publication Fichajes, Real Madrid will attempt to sign Antonio Rudiger to a four-year deal for €10 million per year during the summer transfer window. Barcelona is also interested in signing the Chelsea defender as part of a potential Bosman deal.

Since his compatriot Thomas Tuchel took over as manager of Chelsea more than a year ago, Antonio Rudiger has seen his career take off. In the last twelve months, the German international has established himself as one of the most dependable defenders in Europe. Thus, making himself a vital figure for both club and country.

A productive season for the 29-year-old in 2021/22 has seen him appear in 46 games for Chelsea across all competitions. Thus, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the process. Chelsea, on the other hand, will be without Rudiger’s services during the summer transfer window. His contract will expire at the end of the season, and the Blues will be unable to renew it. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been made aware of the issue.

The Merengues have had a long-standing interest in Rudiger. They made an unsuccessful bid to recruit him from Chelsea. However, the chance of acquiring him on a free transfer has prompted Real Madrid to take action, with the two sides apparently in frequent communication regarding a summer transfer to take place.

The dearth of talent beyond Eder Militao and David Alaba has piqued the curiosity of Real Madrid. Nacho is a backup option at best. Jesus Vallejo will depart the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer. This is the reason for their interest. Barcelona, on the other hand, will supervise a complete makeover of their team. Defence is one of the areas that will be addressed.

Future of Rudiger:

Barcelona is close to completing the transfer of Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, after striking a verbal agreement with the Danish international defender. And Rudiger might be on his way to Camp Nou to take over for Samuel Umtiti and Clement Lenglet. Both are French defenders with unclear futures at the club.

Even though the 29-year-old is a potential target for Barcelona, recent rumours have suggested that they have ruled out signing him in the summer transfer window. As a result of this development, Real Madrid has decided to go on the offensive in their pursuit of the Chelsea defender. A €10 million-per-year contract offer is on the table.

Aside from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Rudiger is also a target for the Italian club Juventus. However, it will be intriguing to see whether Real Madrid’s €10 million-per-year offer is enough to entice him away from Barcelona and Juventus and into their fold.
