Several European teams have shown interest in the 23-year-old Spanish defender after seeing his impressive play this season. Even in the UEFA Champions League, he has been a revelation. Porro’s contract has a release clause of €45 million, and Sporting CP will only approve his transfer this month if his pursuers are ready to pay that amount.

It has been speculated that Tottenham has a strong interest in acquiring the 23-year-old. It’s a given that the Spaniard is superior to both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty. Antonio Conte is on the hunt for a top-notch offensive fullback who can contribute to offence and defence. It seems like Porro is a great match for the Italian’s play style. However, Chelsea is now very interested in signing him.

After a season marred by injuries to Reece James, it seems that coach Graham Potter is trying to replace him. When comparing Chelsea with Tottenham, it’s clear that Chelsea has greater financial resources. And whether or not they can get his signature by the end of the month remains to be seen.

Where will he move to?

The prospect of joining a top club like Tottenham or Chelsea is likely to be appealing to the player since it represents a significant advancement in his career. The Spanish defender probably wants to show off his skills at a major club, and Chelsea can surely provide that. If the Blues are willing to pay the defender’s €45 million price tag remains to be seen.

The Spaniard has shown to be a rock at the back and a major offensive threat this year. Porro has contributed to Graham Potter’s team in 10 different ways thus far this season, including scoring twice. The Chelsea boss could use a natural replacement for James after having to utilize midfielders as makeshift full-backs.

Recent transfer window activity for Chelsea included the loan acquisition of forward Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid. The Blues have added players like David Fofana, Andrey Santos, and Benoit Badiashile to strengthen their roster. If the Blues are successful in finalizing the transaction, Porro will be the frosting on the cake.

The 23-year-old can also play on the wing due to his offensive abilities, and his flexibility might make him an invaluable asset for the Blues in the next seasons. There is now a preference for Chelsea to sign the Spanish defender over Tottenham.
