The New year has not brought any joy for Mikel Arteta’s side. A dismal record throughout January has seen them get knocked out of FA Cup & Carabao Cup. On top of bad results, things have not been good on the transfer market side for Arsenal either. After a winter break in Dubai, Arsenal returns to London Colney to prepare for their Premier League game. As Mikel Arteta handed a huge blow for Wolverhampton game.
INJURY NEWS :
Mikel Arteta is handed an injury blow in Takehiro Tomiyasu who is expected to be out for the game against Wolves. Tomiyasu’s fitness has been an issue for Mikel. Tomiyasu suffered an injury blow in the Carabao Cup game against Liverpool. Mikel Arteta forced to rush not 100% fit Tomiyasu for that game. As a result, Tomiyasu suffered a blow to his previous injury.
I believe you will be well and come back.I'm waiting for you to return to Emirates.

Mikel spoke about Tomiyasu in his press conference effectively ruling him out for the game against Wolves. Mikel said that Tomiyasu needs to look after himself and could be out for a few weeks.
Was Mikel Arteta right to force Tomiyasu to play for the game against Liverpool?
A mistake Mikel made was to send Maitland Niles on loan who could have covered that position very well. On top of this, Calum Chambers sold to Aston Villa who did really well in Tomiyasu’s absence. Mikel left with Cedric Soares as the only right back option.
Another alternative Mikel Arteta has is playing Ben White at the right back position.
Takehiro Tomiyasu’s stats for Arsenal in the Premier League so far this season despite only playing 16 of the 22 matches.

Without a doubt the absence of Tomiyasu will be massive for Mikel Arteta. Even though the return of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka will give massive boost to the midfield which has suffered a lot lately.
In summary Arsenal have 17 games left in the Premier League with a very thin squad. Mikel has a big challenge ahead of him to rescue Arsenal’s season. Arsenal fans want their club to return to Europe, with 17 games to go each game is massive for Arsenal.
