Takefusa Kubo moved to Real Madrid from FC Tokyo in July 2019. The Japanese international had previously spent a brief period at Barcelona. Then, he was forced to leave the Catalan club due to a violation of the club’s policy on recruiting foreign young players.

However, since joining Real Madrid, the 20-year-old has struggled to make a name for himself in the first squad. Thus, opting instead to go on loan to several other teams in the Spanish league. RCD Mallorca, where Kubo spent the 2019/20 season. He is presently in his second season after returning to the club last summer. Mallorca has been one of his most productive stops in the league thus far.

While a score of six goals and eight assists in 59 games may not seem to be very outstanding, Kubo has done well to establish himself as a crucial component in Mallorca’s success. Los Piratas will make an effort to capture the Japanese offensive talent from Real Madrid permanently during the summer transfer window. They are even considering an offer.

What is in store in Kubo’s future?

Prior rumours were indicating that he may be integrated into the first-team system next season. But, the Merengues are considering the possibility of selling the teenager. It is difficult to see where Kubo will fit in the scheme of things. Especially with Kylian Mbappe poised to join Real Madrid on a Bosman transfer during the summer transfer window.

To that end, a permanent exit might be beneficial to both the 20-year-old and Real Madrid, particularly given the likelihood that Los Blancos will include a provision in his contract allowing him to go permanently. The deal may reach €15 million. Mallorca will retain just 50 percent of his ownership interests in the player. Real Madrid will be responsible for the remainder.

Real Madrid has agreed to such arrangements with other clubs for several players, including Fran Garcia. He happens to be a target for the Spanish champions. Real Madrid may be able to bring Kubo back to Santiago Bernabeu in the future without having to pay a hefty transfer fee if they reserve 50% of his rights.
