Arsenal complete the signing of 20m defender from Bologna
Arsenal have completed the signing of another defender this summer transfer window in Takehiro Tomiyasu, the deal is reportedly in the region of 20m with 3m add-ons. The Japanese international is expected to have his medicals in London with personal terms not expected to be a problem as Arsenal complete another signing. The 22-year-old was targeted by arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur as well, but the Gunners take the bragging rights off the pitch with this signing. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu to Arsenal.
Arsenal signs Takehiro Tomiyasu
Tomiyasu is regarded as a very versatile player as he can play both center-back, and right-back, just the profile Arsenal and Mikel Arteta were looking to get. He will perfectly suit Arteta’s system which is playing from the back as he possesses the ability of blistering pace while being versatile at the same time, his age is a bonus factor here as he will look to grow tremendously under Arteta. The Japanese has played over 60 games for Serie A side Bologna and came on as a late substitute on Saturday as Bologna drew 0-0 to Atalanta.

Arsenal were looking to target Barcelona’s Emerson, but Tottenham Hotspur completed his signing, leaving the Gunners with only this option as they headed into the last day of the summer transfer window. Tomiyasu’s move comes after Arsenal are close to departing right-back Hector Bellerin to Real Betis on a loan this season, that deal is expected to be done and announced very soon as well.
Is Hector Bellerin departing?
26-year-old Hector Bellerin’s Arsenal contract expires in 2023, but he looks set to end his decade stay at the Emirates with a move to Betis on cards. Bellerin departs Arsenal as a prominent leader and a player who has helped the Gunners won three Fa Cups since joining them from Barcelona in 2011.
