Real Madrid reportedly adds Frankfurt youth sensation Enrique Herrero to their ranks, teenager might start practising at the club soon

Real Madrid is understood to have completed the acquisition of Enrique Herrero with a long term vision

According to MARCA, Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt have reached an agreement on the transfer of promising teenage prospect Enrique Herrero to the Spanish club. The 17-year-old had also been a transfer target for Barcelona, who are arch-rivals.

In Spain, Herrero is largely considered one of the most promising young players in the country’s football. The adolescent made his debut at the 2017 La Liga Promises competition, where he was crowned the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. In 2020, he was accepted into the Villarreal academy and spent a year there.

In the end, Herrero’s transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt did not go as planned. He never truly made it into the senior squad, spending most of the season on the periphery of the squad’s activities. However, the Spanish Under-17 international had made enough of an impression throughout his young career in his own country for teams such as Barcelona and Real Madrid to continue to be interested in him in the future.

Real Madrid has spent the last eighteen months concentrating on improving their youth ranks, with Florentino Perez focused on capturing promising youngsters and developing them into future stars inside the club. Los Blancos have taken advantage of this vision by signing numerous talented teenagers during the summer of last year, and they will continue to scan the market for promising possibilities in the future.

Barcelona wanted another impressive young player at their disposal, but Real Madrid edged past them

After seeing players such as Ansu Fati, Pedri, Gavi, Nico Gonzalez, and Ez Abde make an impression at the first-team level, Barcelona has also turned their focus to bolstering the ranks at La Masia and the B squad. The Catalans just completed the acquisition of Spanish prodigy Pablo Torre, defeating Real Madrid to the signing of the youngster.

Los Blancos, on the other hand, have gotten the better of their arch-rivals in their chase of Herrero. Following the report, Real Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt struck a deal on the signing of the 17-year-old attacker earlier this week. Even though Barcelona was interested in signing him, the player was always adamant that he wanted to play for the club in the Spanish capital.

Herrero will be permitted to practice at Real Madrid’s Valdebebas facility after the completion of the transfer, but he will not be able to represent the club at any level until next season.
