Real Madrid Wants To Sell One Of Their Star Player, And Has Placed A Price Tag Of Only €10M
Real Madrid, the La Liga champions, are rumoured to be ready to sell 25-year-old forward Borja Mayoral this summer. They have put a price tag of €10 million on him
A Spanish newspaper, MARCA, said that Borja Mayoral may not have a long-term future at Real Madrid. The current La Liga champions are willing to sell the 25-year-old forward and have put a price tag of €10 million on him.
Borja Mayoral started his youth career with Agrupacion Deportiva Parla in Madrid. In 2007, when he was ten years old, he joined Real Madrid. The Spanish striker then moved up through the ranks at the Spanish club until he was 18 and made his debut with the first team in October 2015.
But Mayoral has only spent one full season with Los Blancos. In the 2017-18 season, he played 24 games and scored seven goals. The 25-year-old has had to play regularly while on loan from Los Blancos. He spent a year with VfL Wolfsburg before signing two-year deals with both Levante and AS Roma.
But Jose Mourinho didn’t like Mayoral much last season, so he cut Mayoral’s loan with Roma short. So, the Spaniard left the Serie A giants after 18 months. Real Madrid then sent him on another short-term loan, this time to Getafe, where he became a regular for the team from Madrid.
Will Mayoral stay or leave?
Before going back to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old played 18 times for Getafe and scored six goals. The Azulones are interested in Mayoral making a permanent move from Getafe, and Celta Vigo also wants to get their hands on him. But recent rumours said that Real Madrid might keep him on the main team.
Real Madrid thought about keeping Mayoral as a backup for Karim Benzema after Luka Jovic signed with Fiorentina and Mariano Diaz’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu was unclear. The player is also willing to stay at Real Madrid after the summer transfer window closes. But the big clubs in Spain have put a price tag of €10 million on him.
Getafe and Celta Vigo aren’t the only teams that want to sign Mayoral from Real Madrid this summer. Bologna and Monza are also interested. And since the forward, who is 25, is in the last year of his contract, a price tag of €10 million seems fair. But it will be interesting to see if Mayoral fights to stay at Real Madrid or decides to leave for good this summer.
