‘If we don’t follow him then you know you struggle’- Son Heung-Min talks about Tottenham manager Antonio Conte’s tactics
Son Heung-Min, a key player for Tottenham, has responded angrily to those who have criticized the team by stating that it is extremely vital for Spurs to continue working with Antonio Conte because he is a winner and understands what they need. The North Londoners have struggled lately in terms of their play, as seen by the fact that they have not won any of their most recent road matches.
Even though Tottenham Hotspur have had a strong start to the 2022–2023 season, there has been apprehension around the club, particularly in light of their recent performance. The North Londoners are now in the third position in the league standings and are just four points behind the early leaders, Arsenal.
They are also only three points behind the team in second place, Manchester City. But despite this, they have not been impressive in their most recent matches, as they are now winless in their last four matches played away from their home stadium. This includes defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Sporting CP.
Son Heung-Min has denied such assertions and instead agreed that Spurs need to defend their leader, despite the fact that Antonio Conte’s recent methods have been attacked by fans and critics alike as a result of this situation.
The South Korean player acknowledged that the Italian coach is knowledgeable in his field and that this was shown by the fact that he guided Tottenham to the last available berth in the Champions League. Son also shared his opinion, stating that Conte is “a winner” and has the ability to guide this squad to where they need to go.
What did Son Heung-Min say?
“It’s important (to stick with Conte). We saw last season that nobody believed we would be here right now. Last season nobody believed we’d be in the Champions League. The gaffer always wants more, more, more and as I player I want to follow his way, or you know what’s coming. If we don’t follow him then you know you struggle,” Son said, reported the Athletic.
“We have to follow, there is no option because he’s a winner and I think this is what we do – sacrifice and do the hard things,” he added.
