Martin Ødegaard on his penalty claim: “To me, I take the ball first, that’s my feeling & then he [Ederson] kicks my leg, that’s my opinion.” #afc pic.twitter.com/6PN3HX7ycF

The controversial decision in the first half involved Martin Odegaard and Ederson. Additionally Martin claims that he got the ball which was evident after carefully looking at the video. The referee Stuart Atwell decided to not give a penalty at that point.
VAR will not work properly in @premierleague until the quality of the officials is improved. Inconsistency over the 2 #ARSMCI penalties, both were pens, only 1 given. Frustrates fans, players. Ruins game. Some good refs but overall quality not good enough for an elite competition

Not only the Arsenal fans thought it was a wrong decision but a few of the journalists did as well. The Arsenal fans felt hard done by the Referee Stuart Attwell with that decision.
That's not a pen. Yes, Xhaka pulled the shirt but Bernardo Silva was already on his way down after minimal contact. Poor decision.

The Penalty for Manchester City divided opinions as well. The referee was sent to the screen to look at the challenge by Xhaka on Bernado Silva. Furthermore the VAR advised the referee to give the penalty. The foul looked soft & Arsenal fans felt frustrated by that decision as they completely dominated the game until that point. Manchester City had 0 shots on target in the first half.
Hard to accept it , but only God knows everything !
Proud to be part of this team!!! Amazing spirit !
We will keep working together , fighting until the end !! For this team I will run until I die !! Let’s keep improving in 2022!!! pic.twitter.com/kLAmmQEVLtAdvertisement— Gabriel Magalhaes (@biel_m04) January 1, 2022
The Red card decision was maybe the only decision Arsenal fans could have no complaints about. The Brazilian defender was shown the second yellow card after blatantly fouling Gabriel Jesus.

Granted, Gabriel Martinelli should score but why is the ref positioned as a third City centre back?
The incompetence has never been more clear. #afc pic.twitter.com/2gxCpUmrhn
