Hector Bellerin’s decade-long stint at the Arsenal ended as the Spaniard successfully completed his move to Real Betis on the transfer deadline day. Bellerin was a key player at Arsenal both on and off the pitch, initially, he was brought to the club by then-manager Arsene Wenger who trusted and gave a chance to all youngsters, Bellerin being one of them. He arrived at the club in 2013 and had previously played in Barcelona’s well-known and prestigious academy, La Masia where he was regarded as one of the brightest talents. After three seasons, Hector Bellerin was a nailed starter for Wenger’s Arsenal at the right-back position.
Hector’s off-the-field activities were applauded by all and his leadership abilities earned him the role of vice-captain of the team, he even captained the team in the absence of the captain and was a very capable and vocal leader. Now that he has left the club, Arsenal will be looking to give the role of the vice-captain to some other player, Kieran Tierney looks set to get his big chance.
Who will replace him as the vice-captain?
Tierney has been at Arsenal for only two seasons now but has already made a huge impact and is already a fan favourite. Tierney is a prominent member of this Arsenal squad, he is very vocal about what he feels and what he wants from his teammates. Kieran has been spotted shouting and being aggressive during the matches and is the first one to motivate his fellow players to get the best out of them, showing his love and compassion for the club on the field.
Tierney represents all the qualities of what Arsenal are and what they expect from a player, he is passionate, loyal, aggressive and a proper leader both on and off the field. Now that Hector Bellerin has left the club, Tierney should be leading the race for the vice-captaincy.
