Twitter Reacts To Arsenal’s Game Against Liverpool In the 2nd Leg Of the Carabao Cup Semi-Final

After the eventful game that finished 0-0 in the 1st leg at Anfield, Arsenal faced Liverpool in the 2nd leg of the Carabao Cup Semi-Final at Emirates Stadium. The surprising inclusion of Thomas Partey caught the eye after his Ghana side crashed out of AFCON. Thomas Partey went straight into the matchday squad for Arsenal. Mikel Arteta fielded Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli & Martin Odegaard in the same XI for the first time. Everything started off really strongly for Arsenal, specially down the left hand side. Gabriel Martinelli & Kieran Tierney caused a lot of early trouble for Trent Alexandre Arnold. Gabriel Martinelli eased passed Trent numerous times in the first few minutes of the game. The signs were promising for Arsenal it looked to set to be a dominant display for Arsenal. However Liverpool had other ideas.

Alex Lacazette struck the woodwork for Arsenal the replay showed it was a terrific stop by Liverpool’s goalkeeper. Despite this Liverpool started to show some authority by keeping possession.

Liverpool’s first real threat finished in a goal by Jota. The move started by Firmino’s flick to Arnold afterward whose precise pass found Jota who ran ragged around Tomiyasu to finish it off. The first half ended with Liverpool leading 1-0.

Jurgen klopp was forced into making a change with Ibrahim Konate replacing Joel Matip.

Nothing really changed for Arsenal in the second half. Liverpool looked more threatening as Konate struck the post from a corner.

The only real chance for Arsenal in the second half fell to Lacazette who scuffed his shot high.

Mikel Arteta made two changes with Eddie Nketiah replacing Alex Lacazette and Thomas Partey replacing Emile Smith Rowe. The game did not end well for Thomas Partey as he received a red card. It was Arsenal’s fourth red card this season, a worrying sight for Arsenal.

A minute late the Thomas Partey substitution Diogo Jota doubled his tally and as well as Liverpool’s for the night with a beautiful dink over Ramsdale.

As a result Liverpool won the game 2-0. consequently they will face Chelsea in the final on February 27.
