Twitter Reacts As Arsenal Triumph Over Southampton
In what turned out to be a fantastic evening for Arsenal as they thrashed Southampton 3-0 under the Emirates floodlights. These 3 points could prove to be very crucial for Mikel Arteta and his men as we head into the latter stages of the season. While the start was less than convincing for the Gunners with all the pressure piling upon them at the back. They coped up with it brilliantly and found their opening goal as they played from the back in what was a typical Arsenal team goal.
It was Alexandre Lacazette who broke the silence and got the team going, living up to his captaincy role today. After that, it was all Arsenal as they scored another goal after just 4 minutes of scoring their first. And while the first one was a well-planned team goal, the second one was a bit strange with Odegaard getting the final touch. He netted his 3rd consecutive goal of the season.
A disallowed goal denied Gabriel to get a goal but he eventually did head another one in the back of the net as the Emirates erupted. With this, Arsenal also secured their 7th clean sheet of the season with Aaron Ramsdale in top-notch form, inspiring the backline to do good as well.
The absence of captain Aubameyang was a point of discussion pre-match with Mikel Arteta quoting that the Gabon international missed the game due to ‘disciplinary issues’ Although, Aubameyang’s presence was not at all missed with Lacazette playing a similar kind of role.
What a game we will have midweek. West Ham, incredibly tough side to play against. A win would yet again give us a push in that race for top 4. I don’t want to see another debacle like against United or Everton. It’s time to start cementing ourselves and fight like a proper team.

With this win, Arsenal are just 1 point shy of West Ham United who do have a game in hand. The Gunners will host the Hammers mid-week in what will turn out to be a very crucial game for both sides considering the point difference between the two teams is very narrow.
