Twitter Goes Berserk As Christian Eriksen Hammers Stunner Against Wrexham

Not everyday do you debut for Manchester United, no matter the stage of arrival. Christian Eriksen played his first contest in the Manchester United colours and it came against fifth-tier club, Wrexham and the former Tottenham midfielder laid absolute waste to the minnows.

It wasn’t just the debut of Eriksen but the contest also witnessed the first game for Lisandro Martinez and the Argentine defender seemed rock-solid as a pair next to the French stalwart, Raphael Varane. The latter had his fair share of injury issues that bogged him down in his opening season at Old Trafford but in his first practice game of the season, he seemed to be in decent shape.

A Twitter account called @RobRyanRed kept on providing updates about the contest with no telecast whatsoever, given the sudden announcement of the contest and the game being played behind closed doors.

Manchester was locked in an impasse at the end of the first half that saw the former Danish captain securing a lead for the Devils, a strike that would later be nullified. However, the second half would feel the true sting of the Manchester United attacking unit as the Devils would fire thrice more to send Ten Hag and his men hammer and tongs to the dreamland.

Eriksen was United’s second signing of the season with Tyrell Malacia being the first. Martinez was announced a couple of weeks back but it was finally on Wednesday that the Devils announced the official landing of the former Ajax defender.

What did Twitter have to say about the signing and goal of Christian Eriksen?

The Argentine was heard saying, “It’s an honour to join this great football club. I’ve worked so hard to get to this moment and, now that I’m here, I’m going to push myself even further.”

He would conclude by adding, “I’ve been lucky enough to be part of successful teams in my career and that’s what I want to continue at Manchester United. There will be a lot of work to get to that moment, but I firmly believe that, under this manager and coaches, and together with my new teammates, we can do it.”

Twitter was happy to witness Christian Eriksen back in shape with a banger of a display in his first game and this has again started instilling hopes in a Manchester United that struggled in the preceding season.
