Conor Gallagher: In football, results are unpredictable and that’s a known fact. How the variables will play out at a certain time is unknown to all and that makes the game and the events associated with it extremely interesting and exciting. Sometimes a player rises from ashes and sometimes a star turns into ash under the immense pressure of the game. That’s why often transfers make or break the career of footballers.
In recent years, we have witnessed many clubs sending their young players on loan to give them more game time and exposure to first-team football. This model has been existent for years but in the last few years it has become more of a trend and one of the first clubs to fall into this category is Chelsea. The club has a policy of sending numerous youth players on loan to help them develop their games. This strategy has worked out quite well for the Blues as in last few years, the fans have enjoyed watching their academy graduates such as Mason Mount, Reece James, Andreas Christensen, Tammy Abraham, Trevoh Chalobah play. Conor Gallagher, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace, may become a recent inclusion to that list.
Conor Gallagher – A Destined Star?
Conor Gallagher has been phenomenal for Palace this season and is at the centre of their manager Patrick Vieira’s plans. Despite joining them from their direct London rivals, he is one of the most respected and celebrated figures amongst the Palace fans and they have a good reason for that as the 22 years old already has registered 14 G/A this season after providing an assist in his debut international friendly for England.

Tony Cascarino, the former Republic of Ireland striker, believes Gallagher is someone Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel must not lose as he said, “No one at Chelsea can do what he does, but it depends if Thomas Tuchel wants to play that kind of player in his system”. Well, he isn’t far off.
Chelsea has lacked a front player who can put pressure on the opposition rigorously throughout the match and the work rate that Gallagher brings along with him is a big miss at Chelsea at the moment. Reasons such as these have forced Tuchel to pick N’Golo Kanté and Mason Mount day in day out and that has resulted in exhaustion for the players and consequently, the results have suffered.
The Blues are out of the title race this season but from next season onwards, winning the domestic title must certainly be in their mind and a player like Gallagher who has been at the club from a young age and knows to play for the badge will be key part behind that.
