PSG Offered A Goalkeeper Exchange To Barcelona For Ter Stegen

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the goalkeeper for Barcelona, has probably been one of the most criticised players in recent memory. The German goalkeeper has been under fire for his poor performance, which has been attributed to a variety of legitimate and illegitimate factors.

El Nacional reports that an intriguing proposal has emerged at the Barcelona headquarters to deal with the dilemma with the shot-stopper’s condition.

A swap deal involving Goalkeepers?

Mino Raiola has proposed a goalkeeper exchange between PSG and Barcelona that would include both goalkeepers. Among the terms of the agreement is that Gianluigi Donnarumma will join Barcelona while Marc-Andre ter Stegen will go to Parc des Princes.

Donnarumma joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer during the summer transfer window. Donnarumma, a former AC Milan player, was supposed to be the default starter at his new club. But he has had to contend with fierce competition with Navas. However, he has only appeared in nine games for Pochettino’s team, with Navas taking his place on the pitch on 12 occasions.

In May, the teenage goalkeeper was linked with a transfer to the Spanish giants Barcelona. Although the procedure was successful, the substantial signing bonus and agent fee involved put the project on hold. If the swap arrangement goes through, that possibility may become a reality.

Over the course of the last year, Ter Stegen has seen his performance at Barcelona deteriorate steadily. His erratic performances have cost the team several times, with many of the goals coming in the last minutes of games as a result.

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has already provided his support to Ter Stegen

Having said that, the addition of the European Championship champion would not only provide Barcelona with new legs in goal, but it would also ensure that the club would have a guaranteed starter for the next decade. Furthermore, the addition of the Mino Raiola client may be beneficial to their efforts to sign Erling Haaland, who has long been a dream of theirs.

Barça’s German goalkeeper has had plenty of support from Xavi Hernandez in the past. Most recently, he expressed his confidence in ter Stegen, saying: “I have faith in him. For us, Ter Stegen is essential. This man’s devotion, dedication, and expertise are remarkable. There is no dispute when it comes to Ter Stegen since he is still one of the finest goalkeepers in the world in my opinion.”
