After thrashing arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 in the North London Derby, Mikel Arteta’s men now march on to the 7th game of the season, where they face the in-form Brighton And Hove Albion. The Gunners have now gone on a three-match winning streak in the Premier League and have bounced back massively after the start they had to the season. Brighton away from home will not be easy as they currently sit 6th in the points table. In this article, we look at the probable starting XI for Arsenal against Brighton.
Goalkeeper – Aaron Ramsdale
After making his debut in the league against Norwich City, in which he successfully managed a cleansheet, Aaron Ramsdale looks set to make another appearance versus Brighton this weekend. The 23-year-old has been at the top of his game and has proved everyone wrong who doubted him and Arsenal’s management, who made a bold move as they signed him.
Defenders – Kieran Tierney, Gabriel, Ben White, Tomiyasu
One of Arsenal’s most important players is Kieran Tierney. The Scottish left-back is absolutely marvellous and gives his 100% whenever he is on the pitch. His dedication and leadership qualities are what make him the perfect future captain as well.
The Gunners had a leaky defence in the first three games of the season, but ever since Gabriel Magalhaes has been fit and starting for the team, they have kept 3 clean sheets since then. The Brazilian is rock solid at the back and his partnership with Ben White is proving to be world-class.
Arsenal’s most expensive signing this summer, Ben White, has proved to be an excellent asset so far. His presence was massively felt by the team, as he missed two games due to Covid. Now that he is up and running, he looks set to start against his former club as well.
A player which had massive boots to fill at the right-back spot was Takehiro Tomiyasu. Arsenal signed the Japanese right-back on deadline day and the signing has proved to be a very good one, at just 18m he looks very fantastic. He has also voted the man of the match against Tottenham.
Midfield – Thomas Partey, Sambi Lokonga , Martin Odegaard
An absolute beast in the midfield is Thomas Partey. Thomas’s role often goes unnoticed in the team as he is not the player to score goals and assists, but rather to support the defence while at the same time supporting forwards too. Partey is now fit and will feature against Brighton.
Due to the absence of Granit Xhaka who was seen injured in the North London Derby, it seems like Sambi Lokonga will start alongside Thomas Partey in the midfield for the Brighton game. Sambi was signed by Arsenal this summer for 20 m and is one for the future.
After having an impressive loan spell last season, Arsenal decided to sign Martin Odegaard permanently this summer. For just 35m, Odegaard looks to be an absolute steal as he has had some brilliant performances so far and will be looking to replicate the same against Brighton.
Forward – Emile Smith Rowe, Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka
It is safe to say that ESR had the game of his life against Tottenham as he scored one past them and assisted one as well. The 21-year-old was given the prestigious number 10 this jersey and with great power, comes great responsibilities as well and the youngster has certainly lived up to them.
After having a below-average season last year, Aubameyang looks back in form. As they say, form is temporary, but class is permanent, Pierre certainly proved it right as he has had an amazing start to the season. Leading from the front, the captain will be the first name on the team sheet as we look at the Probable starting XI for Arsenal against Brighton.
Arsenal’s very own starboy, Bukayo Saka had the perfect game against Tottenham and is on hot form right now. Saka has massively thrived at the right-wing and Mikel Arteta will be looking to use him there against Brighton as well.
