In a recent interview, Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has revealed that Arsenal approached his agent but did not make any formal offer for the Brazilian. Bruno talked about how he wanted to win the league with Lyon before leaving the club and joining Arsenal or any other club. He stated, “Arsenal approached my agent, but there was no offer. My aim, and I made it clear to Juninho, is to win a title with Lyon. The fans have not had one for a long time. We have the Coupe de France, the Europa League, and the league. It is difficult with the level that PSG are at, but anything can happen. My aim is to win a title here, but I have never hidden my desire to play in the Premier League.”
Earlier this month, it was reported that Arsenal were keen on signing Bruno Guimaraes as the Gunners had lost two midfielders in Torreira and Guendhouzi, both of them departed to Fiorentina and Marseille respectively. Arteta planned to sign Bruno and partner him with Thomas Partey in the central midfield, but turns out the club’s interest has faded as Bruno stated in his interview that no formal offer arrived from the Gunners.
Who are Arsenal planning to sign?
Houssem Aouar is a name that comes up every time someone mentions Arsenal and transfers. The French midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates for over two seasons now, he was also very close to signing for Arsenal last summer, but the deal fell through in the last stages of the negotiations. With less than two days to go until the transfer window closes, it is suspected that Arsenal are still very much interested in completing the signing of Houssem Aouar from Lyon but it all depends on the number of outgoings Arsenal are able to pull off in the last 48 hours of the transfer window.
