As per the canards, Juventus was on the brink of getting a replacement for the mighty Ronaldo but he left sooner than expected and Manchester United gazumped the star striker.

The departure of Ronaldo is always a drastic move as it leaves a colossal void in the scoring ranks, especially considering the iconic stature that he carries with himself.

Veteran Juventus campaigner, Giorgio Chiellini told DAZN that Cristiano Ronaldo’s decision to leave suddenly was an overwhelming move for the Old Lady to get used to.

Chiellini was heard citing, “We had arrived at a point in our relationship where Cristiano needed new goals and a team that would play for him, because when he finds a team like that he is decisive. He is proving it in these months and he has also shown it with us.”

He continued by saying, “Here at Juventus, a program of rejuvenation and restarting was born. If Ronaldo had stayed, he would have been an added value, but it is normal that he thought more about the present than the future.”

He concluded by saying, “Ronaldo left on August 28, it would have been better for us if he had left earlier. We paid something for it, a little bit of a shock, we paid something for it in terms of points. If he had left earlier we would have had time to prepare better.”

The current stages of Manchester United and Juventus

Juventus was at the receiving end of some severe criticism after Ronaldo left but have rallied all their forces as they have won their last seven games in all competitions.

Ronaldo, on the contrary, has already transcended his individual standards as he managed to score six goals from eight games. However, Manchester United has failed to hit their stride after a string of mediocre performances in the Premier League.

Both Manchester United and Juventus will be up against sporting stalwarts, Liverpool and Internazionale respectively and both the teams will have their individual purposes to fulfill.
