Chelsea Striker Romelo Lukaku Under The Radar Of Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain has allegedly been allowed to buy struggling Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku in the summer transfer window
The But! Football Club has reported that Romelu Lukaku might depart Chelsea during the summer transfer window, either on loan or in a permanent move. Paris Saint-Germain has been offered the Belgian striker. Chelsea is eager to transfer him for an estimated €50 million.
Romelu Lukaku has had a tumultuous professional career thus far, mostly at the club level. The 28-year-old has often made lofty promises. But he has been deceitful. However, he has also taken on the responsibility of becoming a game-changer for his teams multiple times. The most recent of which is his time at Inter Milan. He left them to rejoin Chelsea last summer.
However, Lukaku’s second stint at Chelsea has not gone as planned. He has produced a disappointing record of 11 goals and two assists in 31 appearances across all competitions so far this year. As a result of an inflammatory interview in which he implied that he was not enjoying himself as much as he had anticipated, the Belgian international has also drawn much attention to himself.
According to recent rumours, Lukaku wants to remain at Chelsea. He wants to finally achieve success at Stamford Bridge after a difficult start. However, according to But! Football Club, Lukaku might quit the club in the summer transfer window to restart his career. The avalanche of fines levied on the Blues could further compel him to do so.
France might be the next destination for Lukaku. He has been extensively linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in recent weeks. The struggling Belgian forward’s representatives have made an offer to Paris Saint-Germain. They hope of a probable transfer during the summer transfer window.
Will the Blues accept the offer?
Chelsea would want for roughly €50 million in exchange for Lukaku. This represents a significant drop in his value when compared to the price they spent to get him last summer. For PSG, a loan might also be considered, providing Lukaku with some respite from his ardent desire to leave Chelsea for the Ligue 1 club.
Because Kylian Mbappe is getting closer to joining Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain will need to recruit a top-tier forward during the summer transfer window. While Lukaku will not be a direct replacement for Mbappe, the struggling Chelsea striker will bring with him a slew of goals to help lessen the pain of losing a player of Mbappe’s calibre to the French club.
However, PSG’s willingness to match Lukaku’s current Chelsea contract might pose a dilemma for the club. They may not be willing to match his current Chelsea salary. Having said that, if the 29-year-old is willing to accept a reduced salary deal, a move to PSG is a possibility.
