Rafa Leão operates as a forward for Serie A giants AC Milan. As far as the international circuit is concerned, he represents the Portugal national team. Apart from working as a forward, he has also operated as a winger at times.
The 23-year-old youngster joined for Ligue 1 side Lille on a free transfer from Sporting CP. After that, a window of opportunity opened for him as AC Milan acquired his services in 2019 for a reported fee of €35 million.
It is also worth mentioning here that, only in his third season, he played a phenomenal role in guiding the team to an accolade in 2021-22 season. Moreover, it also ended AC Milan’s 11-year trophy drought.
The youngster drew plaudits for his performances and rightly so, he was also voted Serie A Most Valuable Player. He has by far played 101 games for AC Milan, scoring 26 goals to his name.
Talking about his performance in this season, he kick-started 2022-23 on a high by scoring and providing an assist against Bologna last month. His performance helped the team beat the opposition by 2-0.
During his 100th appearance for the club, he upped his ante and scored a brace before providing a much-needed assist to rivals Inter Milan in the Milan Derby.

Meanwhile, the club’s director Paolo Maldini is pretty much confident of renewing the contract of Rafa Leão. The director also highlighted that the youngster is grateful to the club. He reckons a new deal contract is possible.
There were rumours and widespread speculations regarding his exit at the club. Reports were rife that Chelsea Football Club expressed their interest to sign the talented forward. Nevertheless, Maldini said he is least bothered about the rumours on the contract.
“He’s grateful to Milan and understands that the best way for his future is here. Yes, I feel new deal agreement is possible. I don’t care about the rumours [on the contract], it’s important what Rafa tells us,” Maldini said according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
