‘Dream Move’- Premier League Star Interested In A Move To FC Barcelona This Summer
Barcelona News Transfer: Manchester City midfielder Ikay Gundogan has been an undisputed starter for Pep Guardiola for many years. He has already etched his name as a cult hero for the Citizens.
Gundogan scored the winner for Manchester City against Aston Villa in the last league match. Aston Villa was already leading by a 2-1 scoreline and Guardiola’s team needed a miracle to win the match.
Then came on Ikay Gundogan in the 69th minute and he scored twice within the span of five minutes and turned the game on its head. Manchester City won the Premier League trophy due to his heroics.
Guardiola had reserved his praises for the German midfielder. He already made it clear that he wants Gundogan to stay and sign a new contract. It was pretty obvious that he didn’t want to lose such an experienced player.
Ikay Gundogan has just one year left on his present contract and needs to make a decision regarding his future. As things stand, he is not the only Man City player whose future is uncertain. Even Bernardo Silva is linked with a move to Barcelona and he has yet to sign his new contract.
Barcelona News Transfer: What would be Ikay Gundogan’s options in the ongoing summer transfer window?
As reported by Bild, Gundogan has an option to stay at Manchester City and sign a new contract. This would increase his wages and will make sure that he stays with the champions for years.
However, due to reduced playing time in recent seasons, he could eye for a move to Italy. Juventus are ready to offer him a lucrative contract and make him a key part of their midfield.
Max Allegri is working to rebuild his squad this summer and could sign Gundogan. Also, Barcelona would be his third option as Xavi wants an experienced and versatile midfielder to play for him.
However, Ikay Gundogan will face stiff competition from a number of players in Barcelona. Frenkie De Jong, Nico Gonzalez, and Gavi are already shifting duties while playing in midfield.
Pedri and Sergio Busquets are Xavi’s chief players and are always present in the starting XI. Also, Barcelona signed Franck Kessie this summer to add more competition.
This could be a concern for Ikay Gundogan as he will move only if he is given regular minutes to play.
