‘Player To Return’- Arsenal’s Surprise Signing To Return To The Emirates This Summer
Arsenal News Transfer: Auston Trusty was discreetly recruited by Arsenal in January. The club now has plans to send the defender on loan to a European club over the summer.
The January transfer window that many Arsenal supporters hoped did not quite materialize for the club. The opportunity to sign Dusan Vlahovic was missed. Despite the intense pursuit of Juventus star Arthur Melo, the club did not make any significant midfield additions.
However, Arsenal did make a signing on the day that the transfer window closed, albeit it received very little media attention.
The American defender, Auston Trusty, was signed by the Gunners shortly after the Colorado Rapids was permitted to keep him on loan.
Arsenal News Transfer: Arsenal quietly signed Auston Trusty
Trusty made his name in Major League Soccer during the last few years while playing for the Philadelphia Union. It was this success that led to his huge transfer to Arsenal.
Stan Kroenke, the American tycoon who also owns Arsenal, has his hands in the Colorado Rapids. It would seem that he had some involvement in the transfer.
Trusty, who is 23 years old, is a left-sided center defender who has a good chance of succeeding Pablo Mari as an additional depth option for Arsenal’s defensive unit. At the time, it seemed like a somewhat strange acquisition. Very few Arsenal supporters are really contemplating Trusty as the first-team possibility at this point.
This summer, Trusty will make his return to Arsenal, although the club may place him on loan immediately. CBS Sports is reporting that the current plan is for Arsenal to send Trusty on loan to a European club so that he may play for the first team there.
Due to the significant gap in quality and competition level between MLS and the Premier League, it has historically been difficult for many players to make the transition directly from MLS to the Premier League.
Before coming back to Arsenal in the summer, it would be prudent for Trusty to play in another country, such as Belgium, the Netherlands, or Portugal, before making his way back there.
It seems like it is the only way Trusty can genuinely put himself in contention for a starting role under Mikel Arteta. But even if there is just a remote possibility, there is still a possibility for the American defender.
