Arsenal Is Planning To Spend £180m In The Summer

The Gunners Need To Add More Quality Players And Will Push To Sign Reinforcements

Some would say that Arsenal did not accomplish much during the January transfer window. Well, that would have been the case if seven first-team transfer deals didn’t happen in the month. Of them, six were exits – including two contract terminations – with three of those heading out on loan and just one, Calum Chambers, leaving for a price.

Arsenal completed the signing of Auston Trusty on deadline day. The American will join the Gunners in the summer, along with Matt Turner. There is no formal announcement for the club’s lone new signing.

That’s all there is to it. There’s just one of them. And, maybe most significantly, there will be no centre-forward.

Arsenal is planning a record-breaking £180m summer transfer raid to sign Alexander Isak, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ruben Neves, breaking the club’s all-time spending record

No one denies this part of the field will be talked on at some point over the remainder of the season. Mikel Arteta is facing the situation of having just one senior striker in his whole squad. Alongside, he has one who is only 20 years old and has appeared in just two Premier League games.

Arsenal has two players on their summer wishlist: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£60m) and Alexander Isak (£75m), and according to Mark Irwin, they want to sign both players. Of course, there’s also Ruben Neves (£45m), for a total of £180m.

That figure would surpass the club’s spending in the previous summer window. It was over a sum of £150m. This made it a single-window spending record for the club. Sales of senior players could raise some of the funds. Arsenal is hoping to recoup around £70m from the likes of Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Reiss Nelson, Alex Runarsson and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Such reports must always be treated with caution because they do not allow for any changes to occur between now and the end of the Premier League season, and they also prey on Arsenal supporters’ frustrations at not having secured the players they desired. However, Arsenal has an interest in this trio of players. There are some reservations about Isak’s release clause, though. The upcoming transfer window is shaping up to be another historic one for the club.

Will these signings help the Gunners get back to the glory days?

Nevertheless, any amount of expenditure and preparation is greatly dependent on Arsenal’s position in the Premier League standings after the season. It has been stated that funds will be made available to Arteta. The club has reduced its wage bill by more than half a million dollars per week. The club must continue to be an attractive proposition to players. Another season out of the Champions League would mark the club’s sixth consecutive season out of the competition.

The great riches of that tournament are one thing, but if, God forbid, it were to be Tottenham who finished in the top four this season, targets would place a higher value on their exceptional coach and elite European football than Arsenal’s massive wealth.

Assuming that £180m is being prepared for those three, Stan Kroenke will have to dig even further into his coffers to make ends meet. There will be more departures. This small group needs more than simply two attackers and a central midfielder to function well. However, that would be a good starting point.
