It seems that Arsenal’s summer isn’t really going to get better as they may lose Lucas Torreira to Fiorentina in the next couple of days.

Going by the words of Chris Wheatley, he may be already on the brink of joining the Serie A club shortly with talks in progress.

Despite starting the first couple of seasons on a categorical note, Torreira lost steam in the last season as his career was plagued by a fractured ankle in the first place while testing positive for coronavirus later in the year.

In the first couple of seasons, Torreira left a significant impact with 22 goals from 63 matches and was significant in creating a few gilt-edged opportunities for the Gunners to slam home.

Towards the end of the 2019-20 season, he suffered a freak ankle fracture that sidelined him for 4 months and took it a significant part of the last year. By the time, he recuperated, he was once again down with Covid and couldn’t star for Arsenal in a single Premier League game.

Lucas Torreira can be a valuable add to Fiorentina’s squad

Going by the words of Football.London, it is said that he will be travelling to Italy on Tuesday to complete the move to Fiorentina. The Serie A side has agreed to pay his wages for the season that will bankroll Arsenal’s other aspirations in a more or less decent way.

Torreira had another suitor in VfB Stuttgart over the weekend, however, he was always hopeful of travelling to Italy to spend the next season there.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has clarified his intentions, quoting the fact that Torreira is no longer a part of his plans for the season that just kickstarted. Arsenal is off to a sloppy start in the season after a brace of 2-0 defeats against Brentford and Chelsea in their two opening matches.

Arteta is living dangerously under the sword of Damocles and another couple of defeats may very well pave his exit from the Emirates.
