Arsenal suffered yet another defeat as they fell down to Everton in the very last minute of the game. While the first half was an absolute snoozefest from both sides, the Gunners still managed to get a goal out of it as Martin Odegaard bagged his second consecutive goal of the season. The game was still very slow-paced with either of the sides moving forward with intent. While Arsenal managed to have only 3 shots on target, Everton on the other hand were severely unlucky, Richarlison in particular with two of his goals being ruled out by VAR.
Richarlison and Everton finally ended the goal drought as he found the back of the net with a brilliant header past Aaron Ramsdale. Mikel Arteta’s men just could not handle the pressure of Everton as they tried to defend their 1 goal lead over them.
The last 10 minutes of the game was where both the sides pushed for the winner with Arsenal getting the better chances of the two. A crucial block by Godfrey denied Odegaard the opportunity to score the winner. A shocker of a miss by Eddie Nketiah were some of the many instances where the Gunners failed to capitalize and take 3 points home.
Demarai Gray of Everton turned things round as he scored a fantastic goal from some distance. Ramsdale watched it sail past him in the 92nd minute of the match as Goodison Park erupted. Gray not only etched his name on the headlines but with this goal, also ended Everton’s 9 matches winless drought.
Securing 3 points from this game was just very crucial for Mikel Arteta and his men as the top 4 starts taking its shape. The Gunners now sit at 7th place behind Manchester United and arch-rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
