“They Treat Roma Like A Child”, Jose Mourinho Loses His Calm Completely

Jose Mourinho was all fired up after Inter Milan trumped over his side Roma in a Coppa Italia fixture. They went down after suffering a double whammy as Edin Dzeko put the opener against his former side as early as in the 2nd minute of the game.

Former Manchester United midfielder, Alexis Sanchez doubled the tally and completed the rout of Roma as their lean patch extended to another fixture.

Here is what Jose Mourinho had to tell his players

Jose Mourinho was absolutely livid at the fiasco of Roma and lashed out at his players mercilessly. As reported by Corriere Dello Sport, Mourinho cited, “I want to know why, playing face to face with Inter, you s*** yourselves in the first ten minutes.”

He further added, “And then I want to know why, also against AC Milan, you s*** yourselves in 10 minutes. Each and every one of you.”

It seemed that he lost his calm after Roma would simply fail to budge against the bigger teams. He continued his rant as he added, “I want to know why for two years you have acted like a small [team] against the big ones. If we are a small [team], the referees treat us like small.”

He was absolutely unhappy about what unfolded at the Cup tie. He reiterated, “They treat Roma like a child. Inter are a super team, you had them in front of you and instead of going for them, you s*** yourselves.”

He questioned the players’ courage and told them that they lacked personality. His exact words, however, were “A man’s biggest flaw is the lack of balls, the lack of personality. Are you afraid of games like this? Then go to [play in] Serie C, where you will never find teams [that are] champions, the best stadiums, or the pressure of great football. You are people without balls. The worst thing for a man.”

Now what matters here is why exactly has Mourinho been this livid? It is about to be a year that he has taken over the onus of the Italian side who has found themselves too frequently at the receiving end.

Despite wins against Empoli, Lecce and Cagliari, whenever they have been confronted by the likes of Juventus, Inter and other bigger teams, the men in Red and Yellow have simply crawled their way back.

Somehow or the other, there has been a lack of confidence and irrespective of all the dominion that the team has shown over the sides who are comparatively ranked lower than them in the points table, they have been equally woeful when it came to bossing bigger teams.

Even in Serie A, Roma has found themselves languishing in the seventh position of the points table. They have just managed to win 12 games out of the 24 that they have played. They have played out three draws, however, they have also suffered a staggering 9 losses.

Their current tally is 39 points while their form in the league hasn’t been exceptionally promising either. They couldn’t get the better of a technically inferior and numerically undercooked Genoa and ended up being depleted of Zaniolo in the last minute of the game.

On coming Sunday, they will be up against Sassuolo who has been out of their element and the players will be desperate to prove to Mourinho that it has just been a lean patch that can easily be overcome.

Mourinho has always been an animated personality on the sidelines of the game. However, he still continues to being a master tactician of the game. Somehow, the Italian outfit has failed to act as per the Special One’s philosophy and it has led to quite a few rifts.

It is hard to tell who is at fault here. Mourinho was simply not able to take things when Roma wouldn’t just fire while the players need to up their game, considering the previous fairy tales that they have stitched together.
