Twitter reacts to probable Ronaldo-Messi clash in Champions League
The stage is set as we head into another season of club football, club football’s most prestigious competition Uefa Champions League’s draw is completed as we now wait for the fixtures to come out. Like every season, football fans were keen to know which team plays in the biggest club football tournament. This year the final will be played on 28th May 2022 at Saint Petersburg. The draw which took place today has left all football fans in shock as Manchester City has been drawn against Paris Saint-Germain in the group stages of the 2021-22 Champions League, setting up a possible showdown between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
While PSG have already completed the signing of Messi and, reports are emerging that Manchester City are very keen to sign Cristiano this summer. This draw is considered to be this year’s most exciting match as both star-studded teams go head to head in the UCL. The two gulf-backed clubs also met last season in the semi-finals where Manchester City came on top as they headed towards the final. RB Leipzig and Club Brugge will also face PSG and City and are underdogs going into this group.
On the other hand, Barcelona will face Bayern Munich in Group E, last time they played against each other, Bayern smashed Barcelona 8-2 in the semifinals. It will be interesting to see how Koeman’s men tackle the likes of Lewandowski and co.
Chelsea and Italian midfielder Jorginho won the best male player of the award ahead of team-mate Ngolo Kante who won the best male midfielder of the year. Edouard Mendy of Chelsea won the best goalkeeper of the award while Manchester City’s Dias won the best defender of the year. Erling Haaland’s 10 goals last season in the Champions League earned him the title of the best male forward of the year award as well.
