Tottenham Hotspur Is Interested In Signing A Young Real Madrid Player

Tottenham Hotspur is one of the teams displaying interest in acquiring Andriy Lunin from Real Madrid

Andriy Lunin is reportedly the subject of attention from Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move in the next summer transfer window, as stated by a report that was published by the Spanish news site Fichajes. The Ukrainian goalkeeper may depart Real Madrid before the 2022–2023 season. He wants to find a club that would provide him with more consistent playing time.

Before coming to the attention of the public during his time with Zorya Luhansk, Andriy Lunin honed his skills by playing for several Ukrainian teams throughout his formative years. The player, who is now 23 years old, moved to Real Madrid in July 2018. He has only made modest strides in his professional career since then.

Lunin’s opportunities have been limited as a result of the dominating presence of Thibaut Courtois in the goal for Real Madrid. As a result, the youngster has been forced to make the majority of his games in cup tournaments. Los Blancos clinched the league title so early. So, Lunin has had the opportunity to play twice in La Liga this season. However, he has expressed a desire to play a more significant role in the next campaign. It will leave his future at Real Madrid uncertain while also appealing to Tottenham Hotspur.

Hugo Lloris is getting close to the end of his career. So, the fact that Tottenham is showing interest in signing him comes as no shock. Lunin won’t receive much playing time, to begin with, if he moves to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, even though Spurs need to bring in a long-term replacement for their club captain.

What is in store in Lunin’s future?

The fact that Sam Johnstone is close to agreeing to sign to Tottenham during the summer transfer window on a Bosman free transfer means that the north London club may not need the services of an additional goalkeeper. The Real Madrid player would thus be wise to look for other potential resolutions to their problems.

Lunin is being connected with not just Tottenham, but also Borussia Dortmund and Juventus. Both of them have shown an interest in signing the Real Madrid outcast. Moving to any of those teams may be beneficial for the 23-year-old player. But Borussia Dortmund presents a better opportunity for him to see consistent action on the field.

Despite the claim by Fichajes, a transfer to Tottenham seems to be quite improbable. Luca Zidane is one of the goalkeepers that Real Madrid is showing interest in recently. The Merengues may be ready for Lunin’s exit. Nevertheless, it will be very intriguing to watch whether he remains put at Real Madrid instead of going elsewhere.
