Since joining Real Madrid from Penarol in July 2016, Federico Valverde has made significant strides in his career. Real Madrid’s Uruguayan midfielder has established himself as a valuable part of the first-team squad even though he is still not their first-choice option in the midfield position.

So far, the 23-year-old has featured in 125 matches for Real Madrid. Thus, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in the process. The achievements of Valverde have helped him establish himself as a regular for the Uruguayan national team. Additionally, he is on the target list of several European powerhouses, including Manchester United.

Manchester United’s interest in signing him arises as a result of the uncertainty surrounding the Pogba’s long-term future. In the last six months of his contract with the Premier League side, the Frenchman seems to be on his way out of Old Trafford as a free agent.

What’s next for Valverde?

Manchester United wants to buy a midfielder due to Paul Pogba’s uncertain future. Furthermore, even though Valverde will not be a direct replacement for the 2018 FIFA World Cup champion. However, he will provide Manchester United with some much-needed stability in the centre of the field. As a result, the Valverde is in the interest list Red Devils.

According to reports, the English giants have filed a proposal worth around €60 million to Real Madrid to recruit Valverde. Florentino Perez wanted to accept Manchester United’s offer. However, he has been forced to reject it since Carlo Ancelotti has deemed the 23-year-old crucial to his team.

At this point, it seems as if Valverde will not be leaving Real Madrid anytime soon. Even a bid over €60 million is unlikely to persuade the Real Madrid manager to accept his departure. To replace the 23-year-old, Manchester United will need to find suitable replacements. James Ward-Prowse is among the midfielders who have recently come on their radar.
