Real Madrid Has Rejected An Offer For A Defender From Several Other Clubs
This summer, Real Madrid is said to have turned down offers from several clubs for Rafa Marin, a defensive prospect
AS says that Real Madrid has no plans to sell or loan out young defender Rafa Marin this summer. They have already turned down several offers for the 20-year-old, including a €4 million one.
Marin came up through the Real Madrid youth program. The center-back moved from Sevilla’s youth team to La Fabrica in 2016, and over the past year, he has become a mainstay in the middle of the defence for Real Madrid’s Castilla team. Marin has played 29 times for Raul Gonzalez’s team and is highly regarded by the club’s staff.
But Marin hasn’t played for Real Madrid’s first team yet, even though he’s been in the matchday squad quite a few times. Real Madrid added Antonio Rudiger to their already strong defensive group of Eder Militao, David Alaba, Nacho Fernandez, and Jesus Vallejo this summer. This makes it hard for the young player to break into the first team this season.
Why did Los Blancos reject the offer?
This situation has already caused Victor Chust and Mario Gila, both of whom came from the academy, to leave the team this summer. Chust is almost done with a permanent move back to Cadiz after spending last season on loan, and Gila is almost done with a move to Lazio in Italy.
And there was a feeling that Marin could follow in their footsteps, even if it was just a loan move and not a permanent exit. According to the report, Real Madrid got several offers for the 20-year-old Spanish star. There have been rumours that as many as ten clubs have tried to talk to the current Spanish and European champions about a possible move for Marin.
Some of the offers were said to be for loan deals, but there were also offers for a permanent transfer, with one being around €4 million. But Real Madrid has turned down all of those offers because they want to keep Marin and let him keep getting better with Castilla while also training regularly with the senior team.
Marin’s contract with Real Madrid runs out in 2023, but the two sides are going to talk about extending it because Real Madrid doesn’t want to lose the 20-year-old.
