“You can’t sit here and defend that from Cristiano Ronaldo…”, Rio Ferdinand finally opens up on Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive interview

Despite rumours that Ronaldo was trying to leave after the Red Devils missed out on the Champions League, the 37-year-old has claimed that Erik ten Hag and the Man United board were trying to get him out of the club in the summer.

Ronaldo gave a controversial interview to Piers Morgan, in which he criticized several people, including Ten Hag, former interim boss Ralf Rangnick, Wayne Rooney, Gary Neville, and others.

Ronaldo took offence to comments made by Rooney, an ex-teammate of his at Man United, that Ronaldo’s recent behaviour was “unacceptable.”

While saying that Rooney and Neville are “not my friends,” Ronaldo seemed to be making a snide comment about Rooney’s appearance. Also, Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand thinks Ronaldo should have talked to Rooney privately instead of making their differences public.

Even when others have criticized Ronaldo, Ferdinand has been one of his biggest supporters. However, the former Man United center-back now claims he can no longer “defend” his friend.

Ferdinand said on his Vibe with Five YouTube channel“Wazza’s come out and said a few things about Ronaldo which is well within his right. But Cristiano’s taken offence to it and mentioned him in the interview. As mates you want to see that done behind closed doors, you know what I mean? It is what it is now between the two and I don’t think they’ll be sending each other any Christmas cards. You can’t sit here and defend that from Cristiano Ronaldo.”
