Barcelona and Real Madrid will allegedly have to come up with €50 million to buy Fabian Ruiz from Serie A heavyweights Napoli in the summer transfer window
It has been reported by Mondo Napoli that Barcelona and Real Madrid know how much they will have to spend to get Fabian Ruiz from Napoli during the summer transfer window. The claim comes courtesy of Italian daily Il Mattino. The Serie A heavyweights want to recover at least €50 million from the sale of the Spanish midfielder.
Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz has established himself as one of the most talented players in Serie A since joining the club from Real Betis. He has been a crucial player for the Partenopei during this time. Ruiz has also carved out a position for himself in the Spanish national team’s roster.
Fabian Ruiz’s future is unclear
Ruiz has made 164 appearances for Napoli. He has scored 21 goals and provided 15 assists in the process. However, the Serie A heavyweights are in a pickle over Ruiz’s long-term future. His contract with the club will expire next year. Discussions for renewal have come to a grinding halt. So, Barcelona and Real Madrid have both shown interest in making a deal during the summer transfer season.
The interest from Barcelona is a little surprising. Franck Kessie will join the Catalans from AC Milan in a Bosman deal. With the addition of the Ivory Coast international, Xavi Hernandez will have a well-stocked midfield unit to work with. However, Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona is in doubt. So, the Blaugrana will have to make a move for a more creative midfielder.
Ruiz is therefore a feasible target for Barcelona. Carlos Soler is also being considered as a potential replacement. Barcelona, on the other hand, will have to stave off heavy competition from Real Madrid to capture the services of the 26-year-old Spanish midfielder during the summer transfer period.
Will the move go through?
Real Madrid might want to sign a creative midfielder during the summer transfer window. Isco’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season. Ruiz will be able to fill the void left by the Spaniard in the midfield department. In exchange, the Napoli star will be well-established at Real Madrid by the time Luka Modric approaches the conclusion of his illustrious career at the Santiago Bernabeu. It is a situation that will benefit all parties.
Napoli wants €50 million for Ruiz. So, both Barcelona and Real Madrid now have an idea of how much they will have to spend to get him to their respective clubs. The Serie A giants believe that the money they received through Ruiz’s sale would be beneficial to them during the summer transfer window. However, it will be intriguing to see whether either Barcelona or Real Madrid would be willing to spend €50 million to get Ruiz. Ruiz himself has shown an interest in joining them in the summer.
