In conversation with Sky Sports, former Arsenal player, Jack Wilshere has revealed that Emile Smith-Rowe is the best Arsenal player right now according to him. While the whole team was underperforming in the first three games for the club, Emile was the best among the lot as he always gave his all every time he stepped on the pitch wearing the Arsenal jersey.
The youngster had his breakthrough season last year as gaffer Mikel Arteta counted on him after Arsenal massively felt the need for an attacking midfielder and they had no one else except Emile, although they later signed Odegaard on loan in January. Smith-Rowe had previously came on as a substitute, but made his first start of the season against arch-rivals Chelsea as Arsenal registered a 3-1 win against them on Boxing Day.
After having a perfect performance against Chelsea, ESR was then a nailed starter and has been starting on a regular basis for Arsenal since then. He scored four goals and assisted eight times last season, very good for a player who started playing from mid-season.
What did Jack Wilshere say about Emile Smith-Rowe?
Emile Smith-Rowe’s wonderful form has continued this season as well as he had one of the best days against Tottenham as he smashed once past them and assisted once to Saka. This performance and the form he is in has been applauded by all the fans and former Arsenal player Jack Wilshere had his say too.
“He’s a player I really like, he came into the team last year but made the position his,” said Wilshere about Smith-Rowe, he further added that even when in the bad phase, he was the shining light and that the level of consistency he possesses is world-class for someone who is just 21.
Jack Wilshere and Emile Smith-Rowe have a lot in common as well, both of them are Hale End products and made an impact from a very young age as well.
