Three Strikers Arsenal Can Look To Sign In The Summer Transfer Window

The Gunners are desperate to strengthen their squad and the starting XI this summer. It has been a poor campaign for the north London side as they are once again heading for another trophyless campaign. This is the first time in some time that Arsenal was knocked out of all cup competitions before January has ended. Arteta, who guided Arsenal to FA Cup and Community Shield success within their first 6 months at the helm as a manager is finding it very tough to make a title-winning team.

Striker is one position that Arsenal will definitely be strengthening and few quality players are there on the shortlist. Manchester United and Chelsea for example brought in star forwards this season to boost their attack. Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival certainly raised expectations among the Manchester United fans that they will be title challengers this season. Similar happened with Chelsea after they bought back Romelu Lukaku for a record fee.

However, Manchester United are struggling even to reach the top four in the Premier League standings, on the other hand, Lukaku has been a flop and he has never suited to Thomas Tuchel’s system. Arsenal has let go of their star forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang to Barcelona and Alexandre Lacazette will be out of contract at the end of this season.

What type of striker Arsenal is looking for?

Aubameyang has been a star for the Gunners over the years. After the departure of Alexis Sanchez, Aubameyang has brought goals regularly and won them the FA cup almost single-handedly against rivals Chelsea. Lacazette on the other hand has not been the same but he has been good in link-up play upfront and created goals. His problem is that he has missed some sitters in front of goals many times which has been a setback. Arsenal is looking for fresh quality in those positions. Arteta showed interest in Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic in the January window. He is exactly the type that Arsenal is looking to invest. Alexander Isak, Jonathan David, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tammy Abraham, Ivan Toney, Victor Osimhen and Darwin Nunez, Lautaro Martinex could be jotted on a fresh piece of paper titled ‘priority shortlist’.

Let’s look at three names who can be a striker for Arsenal next season –

Ivan Toney (Brentford)

Toney has been a sensation in the Championship last season where he scored 31 times by providing 10 assists. That form has somehow dipped this season with Brentford as he has managed only 5 goals and 2 assists for them in the top flight. He has been an important part of Brentford this season as the Bees are in 14th place. Toney can be a handful of striking options for Arsenal.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton)

The Everton striker is a powerful header of the ball. He has scored 18 headed goals from his 43 in the Premier League for Everton. Arsenal who have struggled to score headers, Calvert-Lewin can add a different dynamic to Arsenal’s attack.

Lautaro Martinez (Inter)

The Argentinean striker is a hot prospect for Inter Milan at the moment. The 24-year-old was a crucial figure in their Sirea A winning campaign last season under Antonio Conte. This season, he has scored 17 times alongside providing 3 assists. Many top clubs are behind Martinez’s signature, Arsenal is one of them too.
