According to Canadian sports site TSN Sports, the list of teams attempting to sign the 22-year-old forward has been rising since the start of the season. While Barcelona and Real Madrid have shown an interest in signing him, other clubs have also shown interest.  The names include the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. These Premier League giants have also expressed an interest in learning more about his availability.

The story is the talk of the town at present; which club will sign him?

Lille is not interested in hearing any bids for the player in the January transfer window. That is, even though they are aware that keeping him beyond the current season would be close to impossible. David, who was the joint top scorer in the Ligue 2021-22 season with 12 goals, is presently in the second year of a five-year deal. The reigning champions and the player have shown a strong desire to stick with each other. He will remain with the club halfway through the season.

Given the state of their finances, Lille may be obliged to sell their best asset in the summer, although it is unclear if Barcelona would show significant interest in Erling Haaland, whom they have previously identified as a target. Meanwhile, Dusan Vlahovic of Fiorentina has already been identified as a possible successor.

While there is no word on David’s future, his agent Nick Mavromaras has openly said that the player is open to leaving. They have already spoken with several potential suitors.

“The questions we ask clubs are straightforward. What is the project [club aspiration]?” TSN obtained a quotation from Mavromaras.

“When we meet with a club, there are several questions that we go through. The one that checks the most boxes will be the one that will be [David’s] next destination,” his agent said.

Barcelona wants to sign a centre forward

No mystery exists that Barcelona is interested in signing a centre-forward for the next season. The list of potential candidates is lengthy, to say the least. Even though Erling Haaland and Dusan Vlahovic are the key objectives, other players such as Darwin Nunez, Edinson Cavani, Karim Adeyemi, Timo Werner, Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez are also on the list.

The signing of Jonathan David seems to be an appealing option. Considering his age (22), he appears to fit well into Xavi’s strategy of constructing the club around youth. More than anything else, the quickness he provides, along with the ability to think outside the box, which he has gained over the years, is the frosting on the cake.
