‘Plan B For Bernado’-Barcelona Has Decided On An Alternative If They Fail To Sign Bernado Silva

Barcelona News Transfer: According to Carrusel Deportivo, Barcelona has made two separate strategies to replace the outgoing Frenkie De Jong this summer. The Dutch midfielder is linked with a move to Manchester United, however, the clubs are still in negotiations.

Nothing has been advanced yet and because of this Barcelona’s board is currently not signing another midfielder. Bernardo Silva and IIkay Gundogan are both being linked with a move to Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants are ready to sell De Jong to pave a way for these players. The 25-year-old midfielder’s wages could increase to £19m per year from 2023. This could hamper Barcelona’s financial books. So there are chances that Frenkie De Jong may leave this summer.

Laporta is planning to bring in players with a reduced salary which could benefit the club. Manchester City duo Silva and Gundogan have been impressive under Pep Guardiola. Both have been very crucial for their recent title success.

However, their future still lies by a thread as they are yet to sign a new contract (Except Silva who already has a contract until 2025). Manchester City board are trying to convince them to stay but if Barcelona’s offer comes by, one of these players might leave the Etihad Stadium.

Barcelona News Transfer: So What If Barcelona Are Successful In Selling Frenkie De Jong For The Right Price?

This could mean a very good business by the club as they are already asking for a fee of around £80m for the Dutch midfielder. But they also know that it is not possible to sign both, Gundogan and Bernardo Silva this summer.

Hence, they have also made a plan regarding the transfer. Plan A is that Barcelona is ready to cash in on Bernanrdo Silva if De Jong departs. The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move, but signing him won’t be easy.

Silva has a contract until 2025, and hence Manchester City would ask for a fee of around £50-60m to part ways with the Portuguese midfielder.

So, Barcelona has also made a plan B, if they are unable to buy Bernardo Silva and sold De Jong. The Catalans will then go for IIkay Gundogan as he is a very cheaper option. The German midfielder’s contract will expire in 2023 and therefore, they would get him for anything less than £30m.

Looking into all this, it is quite clear that Barcelona is going to have a very tricky summer transfer window.
