After securing 3 massive points against Newcastle on Saturday as Gabriel Martinelli concluded the game with a world-class volley, the Gunners look well in form as they take on Manchester United in what could prove to be one of the most important games for both sides as the top 4 in the Premier League takes shape. While Arsenal are currently 5th in the league with level on points with West Ham who are 4th only due to their goal difference, Manchester United pulled off a huge result at Stamford Bridge which puts them just 5 points behind Arsenal.
While the results are coming for Arsenal, there are still certain areas Mikel Arteta and the team will be looking to improve in. The Gunners rank 16th in the league when it comes to big chances created and 7th in big chances missed. Club captain Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has certainly not lived up to the expectations in recent matches and has, in fact, missed quite a lot of big chances.
In the game against Newcastle, Aubameyang missed an open goal which could have seen Arsenal extend their lead. The Gabonese is far from his best at the moment. Arsenal fans feel Gabriel Martinelli could be the one to replace him in the starting lineup in the games to come.
Here are some of the reactions from fans :
Aubameyang now 5 league games without an open play goal, missed sitters recently and also cost Odegaard a goal Vs Watford. The issue is if he isn't scoring, he doesn't do much in helping our collective game. Surely Martinelli is knocking on the door after his goal yesterday.

Martinelli has been more of a threat than Aubameyang all game, you could easily justify benching Auba at this point.

Why is Gabriel Martinelli the perfect replacement for Aubameyang?
Gabriel Martinelli came off the bench against Newcastle. Martinelli scored a marvelous volley as he celebrated his first goal of the season. He has certainly made fans believe that the Brazilian deserves more playing time. Gabriel Martinelli has previously shown glimpses of how capable he is to become the future Arsenal striker.
His pace combined with his fantastic dribbling has made him one of the hottest prospects in the Premier League. While Aubameyang has been a modern-day hero for Arsenal. It will be time for the 32-year-old to step down and pave the path for Gabriel Martinelli.
Aubameyang missed an absolute sitter today!! He got taken off! He had an amazing game especially with his press but I hope he knows that he has to step up because players like Lacazette, Martinelli, Balogun and Nketiah are desparetely knocking on the door! #COYG pic.twitter.com/0fMWubf1xm
