‘There is too much ego, power for a 23-year-old player’-Jamie Carragher slams Kylian Mbappe after reports of his transfer request arises
Jamie Carragher, a legend for Liverpool, has cast doubt on the ego of Kylian Mbappe in the wake of recent claims that he wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in January of 2023.
After signing a contract extension with PSG this summer for an additional three years, the France international reportedly feels as if he has been deceived by the club’s inability to meet their promises. He came quite close to signing with Real Madrid, but at the last minute, he decided against making the transfer and instead chose to remain with PSG.
According to reports, the new deal offered him some input into the decision-making process of the club, in addition to making him one of the richest sportsmen in the world. In addition to that, once his contract was extended, he began exhibiting some concerning attitude problems while playing on the field.
Recent reports have suggested that Madrid has no remorse about not signing him owing to the poor attitude he has had during the current campaign.
He told CBS Sports (h/t Echo): “The problem I have is that why is this coming out now?. They’ve got a Champions League game tonight.”
Carragher added: “The thing with Mbappe is, I think we all love him as a player, he’s amazing but there is too much ego, power for a 23-year-old player – who is one of the best players in the world – but he is a young player, and I think someone needs to just tell him ‘no’.”
On October 11, Mbappe scored a penalty kick for PSG in their 1-1 draw against SL Benfica.
According to reports, Real Madrid made an offer of €200 million for Mbappe in 2021 in the hopes of acquiring his services. Mbappe is a player who has the ability to transform the success of any club that he joins.
