Chelsea Gain Advantage Over Real Madrid In The £60m Tug Of War

“When a man learns to love he must bear the risk of hatred,” the words of a fictional character hold true beyond eternity. The phase Chelsea fans are having to go through due to all the uncertainties over the club is painful to watch. But then again, it is the reality and must be accepted as it is. The team’s form on the pitch in the last few matches also has not given the fans much to look forward to for the rest of the season. The fans just want this season to end as soon as possible and that will mark the arrival of the summer transfer window.

Amidst everything, this is most probably the one period the Chelsea fans can look forward to with hopes in their eyes. Reportedly, the new owners of the club want to invest heavily in the upcoming transfer window, so the possibility of the fans getting to see at least one or maybe even two marquee signings can not be ruled out at this stage.

One of the signings may happen to strengthen the midfield of the squad. With Jorginho looking likely to leave the club after the end of the season and Ruben Loftus-Cheek not being able to fully convince the manager Thomas Tuchel of what he is capable of, Chelsea is already in the market for a star midfielder.

As the reports suggest, the AS Monaco youngster Aurelien Tchouameni is at the top of the priority list alongside the West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice. Both of them are wanted by multiple clubs but in recent weeks, Real Madrid is reportedly put off by the price tag of Tchouameni. This may open up a golden opportunity for Tuchel as he would love to bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge.

Aurelien Tchouameni to Chelsea – Too early to say?

Chelsea is not the only one chasing Tchouameni. Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in him. But Chelsea has scouted the player for the longest and has been interested in him for nearly two years now. So, for them, it’s now a game of persistence.

AS Monaco wants £60m for the 22-year old Frenchman and Real has pulled out after listening to the price tag. Chelsea is still in but it may come down to who they need more – Tchouameni or Rice – as signing both of them is highly unlikely to happen.
