Revealed: Arsenal Takes Stance On Alexander Isak Transfer

The Gunners Are Keen To Sign The Striker; Yet Things Aren't That Easy

Despite their best efforts, Arsenal was eventually unsuccessful in their pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic in this window. The temptation of Serie A and Juventus proved to be too much for the Serbian to turn down. As the Gunners’ pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alexander Isak is still on, there are new updates in this race.

The latter has a massive £75m release clause in his contract. Still, the Swedish striker was widely regarded as one of the more attainable choices on the market. Arsenal is no stranger to capitalising on such opportunities. This was seen by their acquisition of Thomas Partey previously. The Londoners made attempts to bring the price down though, with various rumours doing the rounds.

Whomever the club does sign will be costly, as was the case with Vlahovic. Even with their expectations of a lower fee, it should come as no surprise that Real Sociedad is not ready to compromise on the price. Real Sociedad’s hard stance on a £75m release clause has triggered Arsenal’s biggest Alexander Isak transfer fears, with the striker’s January transfer still up in the air.

According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, the Spanish side would want his release clause paid both promptly and in full. They also want it immediately. The word “immediately” is noteworthy, since if it is activated, they are in no position to refuse the manoeuvre.

However, even if the sum is quite large, this isn’t the most pressing issue at hand

Indeed, Isak isn’t fully persuaded by the prospect of joining Arsenal this month. He still has his doubts. In light of the player’s hero being Thierry Henry, as well as his clear route to the starting lineup and being ‘best of friends with Martin Odegaard, the decision to release him comes as a big blow. It was previously mentioned and was seen as problematic at the time.

Despite Arsenal’s desperation, it seems that two of their most sought-after centre-forward targets are not enthusiastic about the prospect of heading to north London. They may have other long-term plans and are not keen on a move during this transfer window.

However, nothing is certain in the transfer market. Things can change in the blink of an eye. This is something that has been seen in the past as well. The north London giants are desperate to bring in more quality attackers.

It has been reported that Isak likes the Gunners, which does not completely rule out the possibility of a move. Given the current circumstances, Arsenal and their followers would be more enthusiastic about the prospect of him wearing the red and white. The 22-year-old star is still considering his options.

Arsenal is keen to sign a striker; will a deal happen?

If the deal doesn’t happen now, the summer window is an option. At this point of the season, there is no place for passengers or players who are not fully committed. That is why Arsenal wants to make a major overhaul at the Emirates. The Londoners still want to let go of some of their existing deadwood and build a youth squad, with strength on the bench.

There is a possibility that Isak views his next move as one that he would prefer to complete in the summer. He might be hoping to guide Real Sociedad into Europe, as an act of commitment to his current employers in that way. If this is the case, there is little ground to make up in this transfer window.

There are more clubs interested in the player as well. Despite that, nothing is certain yet, as it is still the winter transfer window. Not a lot of deals happen at this time of the year. For those watching the All or Nothing series when it first airs, the January transfer episode may be one to skip or one to fast forward to.
