Ronaldo scored the match-winner in the 81st minute as he outleapt his marker and met Shaw’s scouring cross with substantial force to keep his scoring streak in the Champions League 2021 alive. This was his third goal in the third game of Group F that saw Manchester United sailing to the top of the table with six points from three games.

However, as critics would always do, questioned the work-rate contribution of Ronaldo to this side that won at home on Wednesday. The Manchester United coach, however, was not buying any of this as he made a loud statement, citing, “Cristiano is great in front of goal. If anyone wants to criticize him for effort and work rate, just watch this game. Watch how he runs around.”

According to the Telegraph, Ole quoted, “I was really, really pleased with how he led the line, we asked him to run the channels, drop-in, press more because we are at home. He was also even back in his own six-yard box and making blocks at the end, defending, you could see him sprinting. He did everything a center-forward should do, leading the line and defending and of course, the goal is just what he does better than most.”

Ronaldo’s contributions for Manchester United in this season so far

Ronaldo has managed to bag six goals from eight games in all competitions so far for Manchester United. Solskjaer was at receiving end of severe flak after his team slumped down to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Leicester City on Saturday. They will be up against the mighty Liverpool on the forthcoming Sunday, and he will once again be under the scanner if his team fails to perform.

Ole was extremely emphatic of the fact that the players have played for Manchester United, and they are the luckiest men in the world. Captain Harry Maguire was also all praise for Ronaldo. He said how he felt the atmosphere of all time change when Ronaldo outleapt his marker to hammer home that crucial goal that bagged them the game.
