Jamie Carragher Claims That £113M Arsenal Target Is At The Wrong Club

Jamie Carragher has said that Atletico Madrid’s Joao Felix, an Arsenal transfer target, is not getting the most out of his ability.

Carragher believes that Felix, who plays under a defensive-minded coach in Diego Simeone, should move to another club.

Felix moved to the current La Liga winners for £113 million in 2019. So, if the club decides to part ways with him, they will want a significant sum of money in exchange for his services and abilities.

As reported by SPORT, Arsenal is attempting to sign the Portugal international. There is speculation that his agent, Jorge Mendes, is attempting to move him out of the Spanish city.

Perhaps a transfer to the Premier League would be beneficial for the 22-year-old, according to Carragher’s assessment of the youngster.

What did Carragher say about Felix?

“He was a significant figure in terms of his transfer cost when he originally got there,” Carragher remarked of the former Benfica star.

“He received the question, ‘Why would you move to Atletico Madrid if you are a player of his kind and ability? Is it possible for Diego Simeone to ever get the most out of him, considering the techniques that he employs?

We will never see the finest of Joao Felix, in my opinion. He has shown that he has improved under Diego Simeone’s guidance. However, I do not believe that we will ever see the best of him at the club where he is now playing well because of the methods he employs. In terms of the future and his career, I believe that a change may be in his best interests in the coming years,” Carragher said.

Moreover, Arsenal is on the lookout for a new number nine this summer, after the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the expiration of Alexandre Lacazette’s current deal.

In the absence of goals under Mikel Arteta, Lacazette has served as the focal point and the connection for the rest of his teammates to flourish, despite his struggles in front of the goal.
