‘And all of a sudden the team is looking horrible again, it’s so difficult being a Barca fan’-Internet reacts as Andreas Christensen is now ruled out with an ankle injury
Ten days before the El Clasico, Barcelona released a statement in which they stated that Andreas Christensen had joined their extensive injured list. Christensen suffered an ankle injury while playing for Barcelona against Inter Milan. Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde are just two of the players who have been sidelined with injury for the La Liga powerhouses in recent weeks.
After riding high in La Liga before the international break, Barcelona‘s club fortunes have taken a turn for the worse during the break as their roster has been slowly but surely depleted by injuries. Before the break, Barcelona was dominating the league. Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong, Jules Kounde, Hector Bellerin, and Ronald Araujo have all been sidelined with different injuries for the club. The result is that Xavi Hernandez’s team seems to be fairly understaffed, despite the fact that the club has suffered yet another setback.
Andreas Christensen suffers an ankle injury
The removal of Andreas Christensen against Inter Milan in the 58th minute was anything but ordinary, and the giants of La Liga have now acknowledged that the Danish centre-back has suffered an injury.
The player, who formerly played for Chelsea, has featured for the team six times this year but is expected to be out for the foreseeable future due to an ankle injury. The statement verified the same information, but it also made clear that there is not yet an established date for the return.
“Tests carried out on Wednesday have confirmed that the first team player Andreas Christensen has a sprained left ankle. He is unavailable and his recovery will dictate his return,” reads the statement.
In Tuesday’s match against Inter Milan, the Danish defender had to be replaced by Gerard Piqué in the 58th minute due to an injury. Piqué entered the game at that point. He joins fellow defenders Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, and Héctor Bellern on the list of those who have been sidelined by injury.
