A 33-Years-Old Goalkeeper Wants To Join Real Madrid To be Courtois’ Back Up
David Ospina, a goalkeeper now playing for Napoli, has provided Real Madrid with a boost in their pursuit of him
According to a report from the Spanish daily MARCA, David Ospina, who now plays for Serie A giants Napoli, may quit the club during the summer transfer window and sign with another team as a free agent. The 33-year-old goalkeeper has shown an interest in moving to Real Madrid. They are considering making a move to replace Andriy Lunin with him.
Since making the move from Arsenal to Napoli, David Ospina has had a satisfactory amount of success. Before making the move permanent in July 2019, the Colombian goalkeeper had joined the Serie A team on loan for the 2018–19 season. He has not been the unchallenged first-choice goalkeeper for the Partenopei. However, he has always performed well whenever he has been allowed to do so.
The 33-year-old has already played more than 100 times for Napoli. During that time, he allowed 96 goals while recording 39 clean sheets. However, Ospina has the opportunity to leave the Serie A club during the summer transfer window as a free agent. His contract will end in the following month. Real Madrid is paying attention to the matter because of its significance.
Andriy Lunin’s future is fraught with a great deal of uncertainty. This is one reason why Real Madrid is interested in acquiring his services. Carlo Ancelotti continues to have a good opinion of the Ukrainian goalkeeper. But there is a possibility that he may leave Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
Will the move be possible?
Ancelotti is a big fan of Lunin and thinks the young player has a lot to give. But he won’t try to stop him from leaving Real Madrid if he gets a fair offer elsewhere. And the manager of Real Madrid would like to replace Lunin, who has been lately connected with Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, with Ospina, whom the Real Madrid manager believes is a better option.
Recent sources have stated that Luciano Spalletti wants Napoli to prolong the term of the 33-year-old player at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. If these claims are accurate, then the signing of Ospina might face some challenges. According to MARCA, the veteran goalkeeper is enthusiastic about the prospect of signing for Real Madrid during the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid has received a boost from Ospina’s attitude. It has given the club confidence that they will be able to make an offer for the Colombian goalkeeper in July if he has not yet signed a new deal with Napoli. At this point, Ospina’s future with the Serie A club remains fraught with considerable doubt.
