Ferland Mendy’s stint at Real Madrid may be coming to an end in the next summer transfer window, as indicated by a report published by the Spanish news site Defensa Central. Following Antonio Rudiger’s arrival at Real Madrid from Chelsea in a Bosman transfer, the Merengues are evaluating whether or not it would be beneficial to cash in on the defender who is 26 years old.

About the Report:

After moving to Real Madrid from Lyon in July 2019, Ferland Mendy almost immediately established himself as the first-choice left defender at the Santiago Bernabeu. Mendy made his move from Lyon. The French national team player has leapfrogged Real Madrid’s captain, Marcelo, in the pecking order for the last three seasons. During this time, he has gone from strength to strength as a player.

The 26-year-old player has appeared for Real Madrid 105 times so far. During this time, he has contributed five goals and nine assists. However, Mendy’s future at the Bernabeu seems to be up in the air as the summer transfer window approaches. According to Defensa Central, Los Blancos may decide to cash in on Mendy before the 2022–2023 season.

Real Madrid News Transfer: Ferland Mendy’s future is uncertain

The summer transfer of Antonio Rudiger to Real Madrid from Chelsea in a Bosman deal has the potential to bring about significant changes to Real Madrid’s defensive unit. Several recent rumours have suggested that Carlo Ancelotti would partner Eder Militao and Rudiger as the starting central defenders for his team.

As a consequence of this, David Alaba will transfer to the left-back position. Ferland Mendy will be in a position of uncertainty for the 2022/23 season. Marcelo, a Brazilian defender, has confirmed that he will leave Real Madrid as a free agent. As a result, Mendy will not have to compete with Marcelo for a position there. However, Alaba’s recent rebirth as a left-back makes things more difficult for him.
