Arsenal is expected to make two purchases of forwards during the summer transfer window, according to Kevin Campbell. Even if they are successful in re-signing Eddie Nketiah to a new contract, according to the former striker for the Gunners, the club would still add two attackers to their roster.
Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts are slated to expire at the end of June. So, Arsenal is likely going to be without a striker at that time.
The Daily Mail reports that the club managed by Mikel Arteta has presented Nketiah with an offer for a new five-year contract. It will pay him something in the neighborhood of £100,000 a week. It will also include a signing bonus of £5 million.
It has been argued by Kevin Campbell that it is hard for Nketiah to become the first-choice striker if he commits his career to play at the Emirates Stadium.
Campbell believes that Arsenal will be able to land two attackers during the summer transfer window. One of whom will be a natural number nine and the other will be able to play in the middle or on the wing. The former Everton striker told Football Insider: “I believe that, in addition to that, they will sign two additional players. Arsenal plans to do this by acquiring one striker and a forward who is versatile enough to play on the wing or in the center. Perhaps Eddie, Jesus, and one or more strikers will sign.”
He added: “I think it would be beneficial to bring in a taller striker. Anyone who is quite tall and imposing in appearance. Since it is their money, they will act as they feel. I can say with certainty that Nketiah is not going to be granted a new contract to continue his role as a regular starter for the next season. Because of this, I believe there is room for two more strikers. However, he has not signed it as of yet.”
According to Football.london, Arsenal is now in the driver’s seat in the race to sign Gabriel Jesus this summer. According to the source, Tottenham Hotspur is also interested in signing the Brazilian this summer. Antonio Conte, who manages the club, is reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old player.
On the other hand, it seems that neither team is prepared to meet the asking price of £55 million that the Cityzens have established for the player.
We will have to wait and see whether the Gunners can pull off this transaction. But the titans of north London must add more firepower to their assault. It would be beneficial for the Gunners to have Eddie Nketiah sign a new contract. So that he can continue playing at the Emirates Stadium. Because of his propensity to score goals, the 23-year-old player has the potential to become a very important asset.
